چکیده
Received: 12/May/2008, Accepted: 21/Sep/2008 Rodgers (Rg) and Chido (Ch) are blood-group antigens and they determine the fourthcomponent of human complement C4. Rodgers and Chido are associated with two C4 isotypes (C4A and C4B). In addition to genotype determination, study on expression of Rg and Chido could be useful in disease studies. DNA was extracted from the whole blood of 60 normal individuals. Then, PCR amplification of C4d gene fragment was followed by restriction digestion. This study demonstrated that the frequency of Ch and Rg in Iranian healthy population was 98.3 and 93.4 percent, respectively. Additionally, 6.6 percent of the studied population showed Chido-positive, Rodger-negative and 1.7 percent showed Rodger-positive, Chido-negative genotype. It may be concluded that upon receiving blood transfusion, 6.6 and 1.7 percent of individuals could produce anti-Rg and anti-Ch antibodies, re-

Significance of Cross Lineage Antigen Expression in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Background: Aberrant expression of cross-lineage antigens gives valuable insight into the diagnosis and prognosis of acute leukemia. In countries like India, cytogenetic tests are widely accessible. Exploring the prognostic value of an accessible test is of great importance. Therefore, establishing a population-specific immunophenotype database will enable to design an antibody panel equipped t...

Background: The development of anti-red blood cell alloantibodies remains a major problem in transfusion of blood in thalassemia major patients. Also, Autoantibodies can result in clinical hemolysis and difficulty in cross-matching blood. We studied the frequency of red blood cell alloimmunization and autoimmunization among thalassemia patients who received regular transfusions in Ilam province...

Tramadol is a synthetic, centrally acting opioid analgesic that has the best analgesic efficacy without excessive sedation and significant side effects in the postoperative pain relief in dogs. OBJECTIVES: In this study, hematological and biochemical changes due to short usage of tramadol were assessed in clinically healthy dogs. METHODS: For this purpose, eighteen male mongrel dogs aged 14 to ...
متن کاملDiscrepancy in ABO Blood Grouping in a Blood Donor: A Case Report
Detection of ABO blood groups through agglutination is the basis of pre-transfusion testing. However, weak agglutination reactions may be obtained with reagent antibodies and are a result of weak expression of A and B antigens on red blood cell surface which may cause a discrepancy in blood group typing. Here, we report a donor which showed discrepancy between red blood cells (forward) and seru...
